Buying
Can I order on this website?
No. We take orders by email at orders@halvane-optics.com, in our Copenhagen showroom, and through our stockists. See where to buy.
Do you offer a student discount?
Yes. Students get 10 percent off the H1 and HV lenses when ordering directly from us. Send a photo of a valid student ID with your order email. The discount does not apply to stockist purchases or accessories.
Do you take trade-ins?
No. We do not buy or resell used cameras.
Can I return a camera I don't like?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery if it is complete and in as-new condition. The details are in our terms.
Do you ship to my country?
We ship to 40 countries. The list, delivery times and duties are on shipping and delivery.
The H1
Is the H1 weather sealed?
Yes, with the HV 28 mm or HV 75 mm attached. The 40 mm is splash resistant but has no mount gasket.
Does the H1 have a built-in flash?
No. External flashes fire from the hot shoe without TTL.
Which SD cards should I use?
UHS-II cards rated V90 for continuous shooting. For 4K 10-bit video, V60 is the minimum. In the CFexpress slot, any Type B card works.
Can I charge the H1 with my phone charger?
Yes, through USB-C. A Power Delivery charger of 15 W or more charges the battery in about two and a half hours. A basic 5 V charger only charges while the camera is switched off.
Is there a smartphone app?
No. From firmware 1.3.0 the H1 serves its own tethering page over Wi-Fi, which opens in any browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
Can I use the H1 as a webcam?
Yes, from firmware 1.4.0, over USB-C, at up to 1080p and 30 frames per second.
Does the H1 have a headphone socket?
No. It has a 3.5 mm microphone input only.
Where is the H1 made?
It is assembled, aligned and tested in Copenhagen. Read more about us.
Lenses
Can I buy HV lenses on their own?
Yes. All three lenses are sold separately, and the 40 mm is also available as a kit with the body.
Can I use my M-mount lenses?
Yes, with our HV-M adapter. Other mounts and their limits are covered in lens mount compatibility.
Will there be a zoom lens?
We have no zoom lens planned. A wider prime is in development; we will share details when it is ready.
Service
How long is the warranty?
Three years on the H1 and five years on HV lenses, worldwide, with no registration. See warranty and repairs.
How do I update the firmware?
From an SD card, in about four minutes. Step-by-step instructions are on the firmware page.
Where is my serial number?
On the base plate, inside the battery door.
